LOOKING AFTER YOUR CHILD'S TEETH
-
Start cleaning your child’s teeth as soon as they appear.
-
A small toothbrush with soft bristles is recommended for little mouths as it is less likely to harm their gums.
-
Brush your little ones teeth twice a day, in the morning and at night after finishing their meals.
-
Low fluoride toothpaste should be used instead of normal toothpaste as children under 6 have a tendency to swallow the toothpaste instead of spitting it out.
-
Always make cleaning teeth a positive part of your child’s day. If they are reluctant to clean their teeth, make funny noises like ahhhhhhhhhh; clean your teeth first in front of the child; or sing a song while cleaning their teeth (the one below works for me).
“This is the way we brush our teeth, brush our teeth, brush our teeth;
this is the way we brush our teeth, all day long”
